Elections and Other Voting

General Elections

General elections are held throughout the Province every third year on the third Saturday in November. The next election will be held in 2014.

Are you eligible to vote?  Qualifications are:

 

Resident Electors

  1. Canadian citizen; and

  2. 18 years of age or older on general voting day; and

  3. Resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration; and

  4. Resident of the Regional District of East Kootenay for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration; and

  5. Not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other Act from voting or otherwise disqualified by law.

Non-Resident Property Electors

  1. Canadian citizen; and

  2. 18 years of age or older on general voting day; and

  3. Resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration; and

  4. Registered owner of real property in the Regional District of East Kootenay for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration; and

  5. Not eligible to register as a resident elector; and

  6. Not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other Act from voting or otherwise disqualified by law; and

  7. If there is more than one registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of owners, register as a non-resident property elector.
