Lake Windermere Management Plan Implementation
 

The implementation of the Lake Windermere Management Plan is a joint initiative of the District of Invermere (DOI) and RDEK. Two Open Houses were held in August and September  to begin the process of community consultation and get input on the implementation of the Plan. The first Open House in Windermere was attended by over 100 people, and approximately 70 people turned out to an Open House September 20th in Invermere.  During the Open Houses, information was provided, and feedback gathered, on the creation of new regulatory measures to zone the surface of the lake and protect portions of the shoreline. This was the beginning of the consultation.

A third Open House was held on December 29^th to provide an additional opportunity to review the information that was presented at our Open Houses on August 3 and September 20. It followed a similar format and included the same information as the previous Open Houses. Approximately 100 people attended the December Open House.   A brief presentation was made by RDEK staff.  A copy of the PowerPoint presentation is available here.  

The community consultations will continue in the coming months as the RDEK and DOI meet with community groups and associations, CP Rail, marina operators and other stakeholders.
