2016 Greenhouse Gas Reduction Projects

British Columbia Local Governments can undertake alternate community greenhouse gas reduction projects* in order to create measurable and credible emissions reductions that can be used to balance corporate emissions and potentially achieve carbon neutrality.

The RDEK has undertaken 2 community greenhouse gas reduction projects. They both involve reducing the amount of methane that escapes from landfills.  One project is the Old Cranbrook Landfill Flare, and the other is a Central Subregion Landfill Biocover.
