Dog Control

The RDEK provides dog control in Electoral Area F and Electoral Area G. If you live in a municipality, contact your municipal office for dog control information.

Residents within Electoral Area F and Electoral Area G are required to obtain licenses for their dogs each year. Licenses can be purchased from the RDEK's Columbia Valley Office at 4956 Athalmer Road. Call the Dog Control Officer, Sam Fiddler, at 250-347-9793 for information about regulations and licensing, or email her at doggone@cyberlink.bc.ca.

Dealing with dangerous dogs
The Dog Control Officer in Electoral Areas F and G or a peace officer is authorized to seize, impound and detain a dangerous dog in the interest of public safety. A dangerous dog is defined as one that has seriously injured a person or companion animal or is likely to do so.

If barking dogs are causing you a problem, it may fall under the RDEK Noise Bylaw and our Bylaw Enforcement Officer may be able to help.
