Maps
The RDEK has maps showing the location of each parcel of land in most of the populated areas of the region. In addition, we have completed an upgrade of our system to include computer-produced maps. This database is being continually updated.
The RDEK provides 3 types of maps to the public:
Base maps - which include legal descriptions of parcels
Address maps - which include house numbers and street addresses
Zoning maps - we have a limited number of colour zoning maps available
We do not provide maps with owner's names due to the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you make topographical
maps?
No, we don't provide topographical maps. The Provincial Government offers these
maps and you should contact your local map reseller or visit GEOBC for more
information.
How much does it cost to get a
map?
Maps are $5 each and are available in two
formats. They can be printed on paper and picked up at our Cranbrook office or
put into a PDF format and emailed. If you are expecting to have a large order, we
encourage you to phone or email ahead and make arrangements with our GIS Technicians,
Jeff Nicolajsen or Shaun Thompson.
Who uses the maps?
Maps are used for reference information by a wide range of different
individuals, including realtors, government agencies, developers and legal
surveyors. Some people get copies of maps for personal interest, while others
use them to assist with distribution or canvassing campaigns.
