Building Bylaw

Building Regulation Bylaw No. 3254, 2023

As of April 1^st, 2024, the Regional District of East Kootenay has updated its Building Bylaw and application process.

Two of the updates include an additional stage of inspection and amended fee structure. There will also be an excavation and footings inspection required, prior to concrete placement, similar to all neighbouring jurisdictions.

Additionally, a non-refundable fee will be required at the time of application submission.  This cost will be deducted from the total building permit fee once the application is approved. The goal of the changes is to partially recover the costs for incomplete applications, applications that cannot be approved or applications that are cancelled prior to issuance.
