The Regional District of East Kootenay works with area communities on water level control at Tie Lake, Rosen Lake, and Lazy Lake. Flow control structures on these lakes allow the RDEK to adjust the lake level for recreation and irrigation purposes.
Adjustments can only be made when there is enough water reaching the outfall structures. In other words, the level of the lake can only be adjusted when water levels are too high, not too low.
The control structures are monitored by the Regional District to ensure debris doesn't block the water flow.
