Environmental Services

From landfills and recycling programs to parks, arenas, airports and invasive plants, the RDEK's Environmental Services Department oversees a wide range of services in the East Kootenay that literally stretch from the land to the water to the skies.

The Department, led by Manager Kevin Paterson, has 9 employees and a number of contractors that work hard to provide personal, friendly service; keep our parks, transfer stations and landfills in good condition; provide education and assistance with invasive plant management; manage our mosquito control program; keep the Elk Valley airport open and accessible for pilots; and, much more.
