Electoral Area G Volunteer of the Year Honoured

Roxanne Wowdzia has been officially recognized as the 2025 Electoral Area G Volunteer of the Year.

“Roxanne has made invaluable contributions to the spirit and sense of community in our area,” says RDEK Electoral Area G Director Roberta Schnider. “Her dedication to the Edgewater Recreation Society and Community Hall is unparalleled and we are lucky to receive her energy, attention to detail and enthusiasm throughout countless tasks, events, and projects.”

Wowdzia has been on the board of the Edgewater Recreation Society and has acted as the booking person at the Edgewater Community Hall for many years. Between hall viewings and booking rentals, managing community members access for meetings, planning and executing projects, and improvements at the hall, she takes on a wide variety of tasks. The beloved annual Christmas market is just one of the events that Roxanne heads up. Spending countless hours sourcing vendors and sponsors, conducting set-up and take down, decorating, and everything in between, this event would not be successful without her hard work and dedication.

“She is not only a great organizer and advocate for our area, but an amazing friend and asset to our community,” adds Schnider. “I am happy to recognize her efforts through the Area G Volunteer of the Year award.”

The Volunteer of the Year celebration was held last night in conjunction with the Electoral Area G Town Hall Meeting in Brisco.
