In-Stream Works Begins Today to Alleviate Localized Flooding on Jane Creek

The RDEK will be undertaking in-stream works in Jane Creek today to break up an ice jam that has caused localized overland flooding on some neighbouring properties in the Windermere Area.

“We applied for and have now received an Order to undertake in-stream works,” says Information Officer Loree Duczek. “The work will be focused on removing enough ice and dealing with an area of choked vegetation to alleviate the problem.”

A small excavator will be working on the affected section of Jane Creek starting this morning.

A Qualified Environmental Professional will be on site to supervise the work, which is expected to take one to two days to complete.  Approximately 6-8 properties have been impacted.
