Evacuation Order and Alert Issued Northwest of Premiere Lake as Island Pond Fire Expands

The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK), has issued an Evacuation ORDER and EVACUATION ALERT in the area northwest of Premiere Lake as hot and dry conditions continue to fuel the Island Pond wildfire (N21295).
The ORDER includes two civic addresses south of Island Pond.
In addition, an Evacuation ALERT has been issued for 67 civic addresses northwest of Premiere Lake.
An information line has been set up at 250-426-2188 or toll free 1-855-346-2188 and, when not staffed, will have a recorded message with the most updated information.
The RDEK has issued a State of Local Emergency for Electoral Area E and Electoral Area F, which is required when an Evacuation Order is issued.
