As the Rockyview Official Community Plan (OCP) process is relaunched, the RDEK has planned a series of Open Houses within the plan area.
“Public engagement is the foundation of success in a planning process, and we are hoping to see a strong turnout to the Open Houses over the coming weeks,” says Regional District of East Kootenay Electoral Area C Director Rob Gay. “We have a total of six Open Houses planned that will be held both in person and via Zoom to encourage as much participation as possible.”

The updated OCP aims to improve consistency across the western portion of Electoral Area C while respecting local distinctiveness. The process involves:
There are also ongoing discussions with Perry Creek/Old Town residents about including their area in the updated OCP. The proposed name for the updated and consolidated OCP is the Cranbrook Rural, Moyie, and Wycliffe OCP.

A draft of the Rockyview OCP is anticipated to be complete early in 2026 for review by the RDEK Board of Directors and public before moving into the formal adoption process.
