Rockyview Official Community Plan Process Open Houses Kick Off October 25

As the Rockyview Official Community Plan (OCP) process is relaunched, the RDEK has planned a series of Open Houses within the plan area.  

“Public engagement is the foundation of success in a planning process, and we are hoping to see a strong turnout to the Open Houses over the coming weeks,” says Regional District of East Kootenay Electoral Area C Director Rob Gay. “We have a total of six Open Houses planned that will be held both in person and via Zoom to encourage as much participation as possible.”

Open Houses will be held:

• Saturday, October 25, 10 am-1 pm at the Moyie Community Hall 
• Monday, October 27, 4:30-7:30 pm at the Cranbrook Senior Citizens Hall
• Saturday, November 1, 10 am-1 pm at the Cranbrook Public Library Manual Training Centre (**NEW**)
• Monday, November 3, 4:30-6:30 pm at the Cranbrook Senior Citizens Hall
• Thursday, November 6, 7-9 pm online via Zoom
• Tuesday, November 18, 4-6 pm at the Moyie Community Hall 

The updated OCP aims to improve consistency across the western portion of Electoral Area C while respecting local distinctiveness. The process involves:

• Updating the current Rockyview OCP and combining it with the existing Moyie & Area OCP
• Merging the existing Wycliffe Zoning Bylaw and Electoral Area C South Zoning Bylaw

There are also ongoing discussions with Perry Creek/Old Town residents about including their area in the updated OCP. The proposed name for the updated and consolidated OCP is the Cranbrook Rural, Moyie, and Wycliffe OCP.

A draft of the Rockyview OCP is anticipated to be complete early in 2026 for review by the RDEK Board of Directors and public before moving into the formal adoption process.
