Scheduled Water Service Outage and Boil Water Notice for Holland Creek Water System

Scheduled Water Service Outage and Boil Water Notice for Holland Creek Water System

Residents in the Holland Creek and Lakeview Meadows areas, as well as the Cottages at Copper Point can expect to be without water for much of the day on Wednesday, January 4th, due to work being done on the system.

“We will be tying the new Prairie Wind Development into the Holland Creek water system,” explains RDEK Utility Superintendent Tom Altmann. “As a result of the outage, there will be a Boil Water Notice in effect at the time the work is completed, until the required lab results are confirmed. Water intended for drinking, washing fruits or vegetables, making juice or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled at a rolling boil for at least one minute.”

The water service outage is expected to begin at 8:00am and while crews will be working to complete the tie-in as quickly as possible, it could take up to 12 hours before service is restored.
We ask that residents do not use the water during these hours because it could cause a vacuum due to a closed valve on the other end.

The RDEK encourages residents within Lakeview Meadows / Holland Creek and the Cottages at Copper Point to store some water the night before, so that they can use it for things like cooking, dishes and flushing during the outage.
Updates on service restoration and when the Boil Water Notice conclusion will be posted on http://www.rdek.bc.ca.
