Upcoming Telus Service Outage in Hosmer

We have been advised of an interruption in TELUS phone and 9-1-1 service affecting the community of Hosmer from 2:00am – 6:00am on October 26, 2022.

The outage will affect all residential and business phones beginning with an area code 250 and a local exchange of 423, and the following services will be unavailable during the outage:

• All local calling within the Hosmer area, including inbound and outbound calls;
• 9-1-1 from a landline;
• Dialing the 10-digit local non-emergency numbers;

The following services will remain available:

• Dialing 9-1-1 from a Telus mobility cellular phone;
• Telus mobility cellular to cellular calling;
• Dialing from a landline to a cellular and from a cellular to a landline.

The outage is required to allow Telus to upgrade telecom equipment in the Hosmer area and they will work to complete the required work as quickly as possible.

This is NOT an RDEK-related initiative; however, we are passing along the information as it will impact emergency communications for our residents.
